This is now one of my favourite songs ever! That chromatic part of the bassline (like 1:17) gives me chills!! Amazing sound design, and Waylon Reavis did a terrific job!

Stumbled into this masterpiece while browsing the frontpage! I love the groove, I can't resist not moving around with that awesome bassline. This is amazing, I can't wait to hear more from you!
That means a lot to me, my friend! I appreciate it! I will try to make more! Thanks!
Such a clean sound! I'm not a big fan of the constant parallels, but I can't deny that it's a very creative composition! Good luck in the contest!
Sounds good! Few things though:
-I think it's pretty muddy in the drop and some other parts, you can do some cleaning up in the low-mids in some places, probably because your bass synth is clashing with a lot of things
-I would cut 1:00-1:14
-It sounds like the synths are a really big part of this track (not a bad thing, I like it but it could go against the rules? we'll see what the judges think). In many parts of the track, the strings are playing an ostinato and the synths provide the melody.
Good job! I enjoyed this :)
Good job! You really got the most out of LABS! I can't imagine how well you would do when you can afford paid libraries! And the mix actually sounds quite good and you have $2 earphones! You have so much potential, keep up the good work and invest in better equipment/libraries if you are able to!!!! Can't wait to hear more from you!
I'm glad that the mix sounds decent to you, thank you so much! And yup, decent hardware and libraries are my number one investment priority! Cheers!
I love this!!!
My favourite part is 1:31, I love that conversation between the instruments! The composition is excellent!
Wow, feels super dark and eerie, I can imagine the spy fearing for his life and wondering what will happen to him at any moment. I like that little touch of brightness/hope at around 2 minutes in.
I feel like it's muddy around the low-mids at times though. Whatever that harpsichord or string instrument is, it has this loud low-end attack that clashes with your percussion or other instruments. I wouldn't completely cut it out but I think making it softer would help.
I also think there is too much compression/limiting at some places too, like for example 1:21. I think the composition/atmosphere you created is great, but the mix is holding you back. Great work!
Hey you, clockbeatadelony87
I absolutely agree with your critics, I've said it in the previous version when it was even worst, but for a perfect mix I was not sure to finish on time so I let the song in this state for the competition.
In fact, for the composition and events that occur during the song I've "followed" the pictures in a certain kind of order like : The spy come from the north mountain, descent it and arrive to a place less cold (a little like from winter to spring) a kind of village with that house in grass between mountain and forest with things harder are who preparing and come or happend in mind and after that he goes to a kind of pub with darker people these want to attack him, he ran away and fight for his live and success to escape for finally go back to his home but with sad and reflectives feellings. Something like that :-)
It sounds so compressed, I think your limiter is doing way too much. It also sounds really muddy and it's so hard to listen to. It is very poorly mixed, make sure you eq out unnecessary frequencies around the low-mids to reduce the mud, and you need to adjust your track volumes (for example some cymbals or sound effects are way too loud). The composition could use some work, it sounds really bland and empty I think because of overuse of parallel octaves.
Your orchestral library also sounds very "synthy", but this is not your fault. But because the orchestra doesn't sound good the music wont sound that good either.
Don't give up though! Keep making music you will eventually realise and correct mistakes! Practice doing orchestral sketches that sound unique! Don't be afraid to try new things (like modes, different time signatures, etc) and learn to evolve out of the 4 bar loop trap! Don't rush the mixing stage or else it will butcher your composition! Lastly you can invest in an good orchestral library when you are ready ;)
Keep practicing!
Wow! Stunning percussion and epic brass. What percussion library is this? I'm planning to get Damage 2 for black friday
